A resource energy manager is assigned to a military base and performs seasonal energy usage analyses in buildings that include the identification of unusual usage patterns and correcting items within a building that contribute to the unusual patterns. Additional responsibilities of a REM include:

The development of strategies and recommendations to reduce facilities energy and operating expenses.

Provide management with information about energy use.

Assist facilities managers in developing and implementing energy management control system strategies.

Create and implement energy awareness programs.

Liaise with the operations and maintenance departments in order to provide optimum facility comfort while reducing energy consumptions levels.

Manage tasks and projects including project set-up, cost and budget control, sub-contractor management, client invoices and accounts receivable.

Estimate costs and prepare proposals as requested.

Procure subcontractors.

Prepare project schedules.
